The Investment Management Program from Columbia Business School Executive Education prepares financial advisory and wealth management professionals to meet the demands of today’s clients and the industry. The program enables participants to deepen their understanding of global financial markets, core areas of wealth management, diverse asset classes, and investment strategies and effectively develop value propositions toward their clients’ investment planning. Over a nine-month immersive learning journey taught by Ivy League faculty and industry experts, the program offers cutting-edge insights, practical knowledge, and skills to create robust investment portfolios and enhance client relationships. The flexible format enables participants to craft the program based on their learning goals — with an immersive core curriculum to broaden their skill sets and a choice of online and on-campus electives to further deepen their expertise. The Investment Management Program is a nine-month immersive learning journey that will prepare you to meet the disruptive challenges of today’s industry and the evolving demands of your clientele. The curriculum explores the essential skills needed to become a trusted financial advisor for clients, to effectively manage their investment life cycles, and to help build a thriving client portfolio. Apart from cutting-edge expertise from Columbia’s Ivy League faculty, participants will interact with practitioners in financial advisory and wealth management firms. The program culminates with a three-day in-person immersion where you will get an opportunity to network with faculty and fellow peers as well as senior practitioners and experts from the financial advisory and wealth management industries.
The Investment Management Program features three core modules that will equip you with the tools and frameworks to understand your clients’ investment needs and develop value propositions customized to their risk profiles and investment goals. You will explore the impact of various asset classes, investment strategies, risk management, and asset allocation and gain hands-on experience in managing portfolios to suit client needs. The program will also sharpen your client management skills and provide you with strategies to expand your client base.

Harry Mamaysky teaches capital markets and asset pricing to MBA, Master’s, and PhD students as well as in Executive Education programs. He teaches students on the use of text data in finance and corporate bonds. His research focuses on equity, exchange rates, volatility, credit markets, the role of information in the trading process, and market microstructure. Mamaysky has consulted for a quantitative investment firm and for a nationally recognized statistical rating organization. Prior to his return to academia, Mamaysky founded the Systemic Risk Group at Citigroup and served as a member of the firm’s Risk Executive Committee. He has held portfolio management positions with Citi Principal Strategies, Old Lane, and Morgan Stanley. Mamaysky joined Columbia Business School in 2015.
Eric Baron has been researching the sales process and how it relates to problem solving for the last 20 years. Much of what he has learned is included in his book, Selling Is a Team Sport. He has published many articles and white papers that address this subject. He is also interested in sales management principles and his next book, currently in the draft stage, focuses on the importance of coaching as a critical skill for sales managers.
Upon completion of the Investment Management Program, participants are awarded the Certificate in Business Excellence from Columbia Business School Executive Education.
